About Me
Seeing beyond the botanical
I'm Doug, a photographer exploring the botanical world and landscapes through abstract imagery, with a particular fascination for orchids — many of which I grow myself, following their development and photographing them when something catches my eye and sparks my curiosity.
I use intentional camera movement (ICM) and multiple exposures to deconstruct forms, layer gestures and transform what I see into images that move between photography and painting. Rather than faithfully reproducing nature, my work offers a personal interpretation of it — one that is more sensory than descriptive.
I'm drawn to the moment when a flower becomes more than a flower, transforming into movement, atmosphere or sensation.
I create images that invite the viewer to linger, discover and imagine, bringing a subtle, contemplative and distinctive presence to the spaces they inhabit.
